For most of us health is Something we take for granted, we don't think about it, that is, until we lose it. In today's society the word "health" is used in such a wide variety of contexts-describing everything from insurance to exercise facility- thus it's meaning in terms of personal well being has been obscured.
It is Important that part of or existence and or well being. Health in the mind body and soul three main connection all helping us in Wholeness.
Respect for First Nations cultures forms the basic tenet of the program. Flexible approaches recognize the complexity of needs and the individual situation of each client. Components include daily crisis intervention, legal advocacy, counseling, prevention education, maximally assisted medication therapy and on-site access to physicians, nurses, social workers, addictions counselors and outreach workers.
Keewaytinook Okimakanak Health Services are not independent of each other, but linked like pieces of a puzzle to form the larger picture. Each Service supports the another and one service cannot be established without supporting Services.
For example, physician services cannot be established without nursing services while client services depend upon both of these. Together all Services work to achieve the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Health Services Vision, which is develop community-driven, community-based quality health care services for our members of the first nations utilizing Red Lake and it's facilities for client referrals. This document is intended to give structure to Keewaytinook Okimakanak Health Advisory Committee (KOHAC) while maintaining the spirit and flexibility of the Kewwaytinook Okimakanak Health Services' mandate and principles of equity and access.

The Chair and Vice Chair of Advisory Committee are elected from the KOHAC membership, by it's members, to serve a two year term. There is no limit to the number of terms a member may sit.
The Spokesperson is normally the KO Health Director.
The Advisory Committee, in response to issues, concerns,and priorities raised by the general membership, will establish and ad-hoc committees as necessary. The Advisory Committee members will be encouraged to participate on such committees. Each working committee shall consist of 3 to 5 members drawn from local staff, health authority, or outside person(such as programs sponsors), and shall include at least 1 member from the advisory Committee who will serve as Liaison with KOHAC.
Keewaytinook Okimakanak is governed by the Board of Chiefs which represent the six member First Nations of KO. They hold ultimate responsibility for affairs undertaken by KO. With regards to KOHS, the Board of Chiefs are responsible for considering presentations brought forth to them by the KO Health Director or KOHAC Chair or designate, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of related options, and making appropriate decisions to support the long term health, well-being, and development of their respective First Nations and First Nation members.
The Constituency for KOHS is FN Membership at the community level. Community members (The Constituency) are responsible for maintaining awareness of local health issues, supporting local politicians who have a strong vision for and interest in health, and communicating their interests and concerns to their respective Chief and Council and local health authority members and staff.
The Health staff and health authority members at the First Nations level are the General Membership of KOHOS. They are responsible to plan, set policy, and work together at community level to achieve their community's vision for health.
The General Membership will be consulted on concrete issues relevant to the KOHS, as well as on issues which impact changes to these terms of reference. The General Membership will be encouraged to participate through focus groups, working groups, ad-hoc committees and other initiatives.
KO Health Staff are responsible for carrying out the work of KOHS, on behalf of KOHS and the KO member First Nations either at KOHS
