Mental Health Therapist

The Mental Health Therapist is full time position directly responsible fpor providing for enhanced mental health therapy services for KO member First Nations clients,including: direct mental health therapy and client care; guidance and leadership in overall case supervision and case management; leadership and support of mental health network teams; liaison,cooperation and cooridination with KO FN Health Directors and the project Capacity Builder/Trainer; genral support for KO FN clients and local and visiting mental health or other social services staff; design and production of materials for updating of Mahmindonenchiigun Menoyawin Project website; and other duties as required.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Mental Health Therapist is directly responsible to the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Health Director.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Direct mental health therapy and client care, including
    1. designing and completing appropriate(culturally, regionally) client assessment;
    2. responding to clients needs needs with appropriate referrals for plans for therapy,referral to another worker(s)referral to treatment centre;
    3. development of plans of therapy; including safety plans incorporating local worker (s);
    4. conducting client therapy with certain clients as determined through collective case management, primarily during onsite visits as required at-a- distance. Tel counselling.
  2. guidance and leadership in overall case supervision and case management including:
    1. demonstrating leadership in establishing regular, consistent and effective case supervision and case management routine activities; 
    2. working together with other workers, both local and visiting, to determine most efficient use of skills and time avialable of all workers for direct client healing services; 
    3. reviewing and, if necessary,cooperating with other workers, both local and visiting, to enhance and/or standardize case record-keeping, case management forms and data reporting instruments and schedules;
    4. twice monthly contact ( on-site or at-a-distance) with local and visiting workers for monitoring purposes;
    5. scheduling and ensuring leadership for monthly case management meetings (alternating on-site and-at-a-distance) for each community and their local and visiting workers. 
  3. leadership and support of the mental health network/teams;including;
    1. consultation with the workers re: costs and benifits of networking;
    2. facilitating regular activities and meetings (onsite or at-a-distance) to promote and work towards delelopment of shared goals and values for mental health program and workers team;
    3. support for local champions for mental health;
  4. Liason, cooperation and coordination with the KO FN Health Directors and project Capacity Builder/Trainer.
    1. regular comunication ( liaison cooperation and coodination) with KO Health Director regarding overall project direction as well financail and management issues;
    2. regular communication (laiasonn,cooperation and coordination) with FN Health Directors regarding overall project direction Community specific issues and local staff supervision issues; and local staff supervision and local staff supervision issues;
    3. regular communication(liaison,cooperation and coordination) with the capacity builder/trainer community visits, input into content of trainining or other sessions being designed and/or delivered by the Capacity Builder/Trainer and Local Health Director and teams.
